Lol of the day
It's always hilarious coming across songs that you listened when you were younger & not clever enough to know what the song was really about. Or just weren't paying enough attention. The ones that when you hear them now it makes you go oh...OH! Now you can relate hahaha.

/edit: Need to add this one because it makes me laugh everytime
Reminds of this time in elementary school when Idelle & Nikki were so upset that they didn't pass the auditions for the talent show. Thinking back, I would have loved to see the look on the parents' faces when they finished performing "Waterfalls". Second graders singing about drug dealing & HIV...the PTA would've had a field day.

When I pulled my hamstring, I went to the misogynist
Now that I've thought about it - and seen this - Glee would make a pretty good horror movie.
I'm still mad that they didn't do the full song for the episode. Needs more J.Groff/Jesse.

Fresh cappuccino with a mocha twist
I've decided I'm going to put myself on a budget. I've been doing well with putting $ into my savings every payday but my God - this coffee habit is getting the best of me. Going into Lent, I hoped that I'd be able to kick this; now, I just feel like it's worse than ever. I'm curbing my spending habits on food to accommodate my Starbucks/Peet's/Bad Ass Coffee fix, but I know I can do better. It's just hard when this is all I think about everyday -

Caramel macchiato. I like mine iced grande with nonfat milk, upside down, light on the ice. Sometimes with sugar-free vanilla. However, after I started going to the Peet's near my workplace, my Starbucks drinks started to taste watered down. I'm still a fan of their hazelnut & pumpkin spice latte though *drool*

At Peet's I'll usually go for the dark chocolate mocha freddo. Their coffee seems a little bolder & deep roasted than Starbucks, but it might take a while to get used to if you're not a regular. If you don't like stronger coffee you probably won't like it off the bat.

Ice blended black forest at Bad Ass Coffee. Obviously I don't have a picture of it, but you KNOW it's gonna be good. I gotta admit all of their drinks just seem like variations of the same thing because the kona coffee taste overpowers the other flavors, but I love kona coffee so no complaints here. Plus their blended drinks are very finely blended to a really smooth & creamy texture *more drooling*
I wish I could say that I frequent independent coffee shops as well but I just have to make do with what's nearby, plus there's the fact that I always leave my house in the morning at the last minute possible. Anyways, to cut down spending (& unnecessary calories) I bought these today:

I hope they don't disappoint.

Balrogs, Krakens, & Nazgûl, Oh My
While a good amount of my friends were living up the end of their spring breaks this past weekend, I decided to lay low, aka catch a movie & watch 2/3 of my favorite trilogy ever. No complaints here, especially when you add some cheap wine, fatty cupcakes, yummy leftovers, and a Rawfiki for some good company. It didn't even take that much effort for me to convince him that missing out on the Lakers game for some kickass fellowship bromance wouldn't be so bad.
Not only did I get my LOTR fix, but I ended up dragging Raf & Jay to go see "Clash of the Titans". I'm pretty sure I was laughing throughout the whole thing, but if you're going to remake a camp classic, I guess it's not totally unexpected. I'm still not convinced that Sam Worthington can act, but he's nice to look at I guess. Mads Mikkelsen was pretty badass and was the best part of the movie for me (he played Le Chiffre in "Casino Royale"). As ridiculous as the original is, it'll always have a soft spot in my heart since I've seen it so many times. And I wish they utilized this little guy more in the revamped version -

If you're in need for some lolz & cheesy goodness, I would save the $12 something and catch the original COTT on youtube. I can't get enough of movies with some epic movie creatures. If I had Netflix, I would almost put this in my queue:

I love me a good mashup.
I know some people who absolutely hate mashups but for the most part I LOVE them. Mashups, random mixtapes, remixes, fusions of different genres, I eat up anything that fucks with the familiar. I'm not as forgiving with covers that are too faithful to the original version though, not that you can totally discern a cover from a remix sometimes. That probably doesn't make any sense but I'm just gonna run with it.
I'm a little late with this one (it came out around January), but I've been listening to it lately so I thought I'd share.

“Enter The Magical Mystery Chambers” by Wu Tang Vs The Beatles, produced by Tom Caruana featuring Wu-Tang acapella tracks mixed with samples from Beatles songs.I'm sure a lot of people think messing with Wu-Tang's music is sacrilegious. And of course, you can say the same thing about die-hard Beatles fans . I myself must admit that I love The Beatles' songs but I prefer when they're performed by other artists /unpopular opinion. But what I like about this mix is that the sampling is done very subtly, which works well for me. I don't know if you can compare this to the execution of The Grey Album but for some cruising-in-the-beautiful-SD music? This will do just fine.
Download the .rar file here or you can hit me up for it
And for a little taste of it -

A music post.
I just uploaded about 400 songs to my computer thanks to my brother. NIOCE.

Why I bring this up: I can't stand putting my whole iTunes on shuffle because I need some consistency when listening to music. Unfortunately, that means missing out on a lot of good stuff that's right in front of me - if it doesn't come to mind, it just won't get played. I'm always looking for new stuff to add, only to be listened to a few times then forgotten...they're like the never-worn, still-have-tags pieces of clothing just sitting in my closet. What a waste.
But don't you guys have those moments when you listen to a song and you can automatically think of the perfect corresponding moment from your day? Or it takes to you somewhere very specific? Happened to me quite a lot today so I thought I'd share.
That guy that your friend won't shut up about but just needs to drop already. I will confront the dude for you my friend if that means getting all fierce up in his face Janet-style with accompanying dance moves. I'll even be content with a background dancer role. God I wish life was like a music video sometimes.
I heard this song at Starbucks and it automatically made my heart all warm and gushy. It also makes me want to fly? It's just awesome.
Good morning at work...
and sometimes by the end of the day. Hah.
Yeezy thanks you for your time.

Thanks for keeping it classy, Coco
"And all I ask is one thing, and I’m asking this particularly of young people that watch: please do not be cynical. I hate cynicism. For the record, it’s my least favorite quality. It doesn’t lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you’re kind, amazing things will happen. I'm telling you, amazing things will happen.."

It Had to Be Said
My favorite Twilight-related thing ever, although that may not be saying much.
"In this remixed narrative Edward Cullen from the Twilight Series meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer at Sunnydale High. It's an example of transformative storytelling serving as a critique of Edward's character and generally creepy behavior. Through Buffy's eyes some of the more patriarchal gender roles and sexist Hollywood tropes embedded in the Twilight saga are exposed in hilarious ways."

Leap of faith
After a long, drawn-out conversation I had with a friend yesterday, we eventually touched on some important subjects that I didn't think would catch me so off-guard. It's like those conversations that you have in middle school where you nonchalantly tell your friends exactly how the rest of your life is going to (or at least, how you think it's supposed to) play out. Without really thinking about how monumental these events are in your life, you make that checklist in your head - college, graduation, starting your career, marriage, starting a family, etc.. Suddenly cut to 10 years later and when it's time to really start the discussion, lo and behold, you really don't know what to say. I've been having way too many of these moments lately haha:
Anyways, I guess we're just at that point in our lives where we actually have to confront all those things we said we would do when we were younger and probably a little braver as well; I mean what 12-year old took into account financial situations or baggage from past experiences when determining their destination in life? I know nowadays you can't help but think about these obstacles, but that naive outlook - sometimes you just have to revert back to that to cut out the bullshit & see the big picture. I appreciate everything that I've learned from my experiences with people and in relationships and just the "real world", but man it would be nice to go back to not having a worry in a world for a day again.

A little after the conversation finished, there was one thought that stuck in my head after talking about a particular subject, but I think it applies to everything -
Can you ever be 100% sure of something if you've never known otherwise?
With some big decisions that folks our age have to make and without having as much experience as older folks, I just have a hard time taking that leap of faith sometimes and just trusting that a certain decision is the right one. It's like saying San Diego is the best city in the world and there's absolutely no other place you'd rather be, but you've never been past the county borders. As much as you love this city and despite having numerous examples lined up to back your case, can you ever really go from that 99% to 100% sure that SD is the place to be and never bother leaving it for the rest of your life because it's that good to you? I don't know...

I'm going to miss Wednesday night TV
Now for some Aerosmith to tie in two of my favorite shows right now:
The studio version of Adam Lambert's cover of Aerosmith's "Cryin'" is a million times better than the performance. Not gonna lie, I've had this on repeat all day. Who knew when I made that Adam Lambert post back during Top 13 week I'd be this obsessed at this point. Maybe I'm biased (fck yeah Sundevils) but man, I love this guy.
[Damnit it won't let me embed the video]
And for some vintage Aerosmith, check out Josh Holloway aka Sawyer from LOST around the 3:25 mark. James has definitely come a long way haha. And this season's finale...my mind was blown. Damn you writers for pulling on my heart strings ;(

Paparazzi
I may not "get" her at all sometimes, or almost all the time actually, but I love this chick. And her crazy hats & geisha lips phase lately. Help!
P.S. it's a shame I can't get into the "I Poke Her Face" song, maybe the instrumental but yeah...

Slow Jamming the News
I haven't seen an episode of Jimmy Fallon's talk show or decided whether I think he'll be a success or a massive fail. And I don't know how I feel about The Roots as his house band. But this was pretty hilarious:
"She added an amendment" - Best part. LOL.
